Your Brokenness Is Welcome Here: How meeting people where they are at inspires and uplifts a generation. The raw, the genuine, the broken are welcomed and encouraged.
“There’s nothing better than being full of life, light, color, and wonder in a world that’s drained of it. #soulscripts”
Be a Little More Ordinary
I tend to gravitate to the stories of average people because this is where the magic tends to happen; in the early mornings, the in between moments, the messy, the ordinary.
The best representation of this is Soul Scripts, run and written by Jordan Lee Dooley. This blog is an openly Christian platform that targets and specializes content for women.
In her own words, “(Soul Scripts) is more than just a blog. It’s designed to be a community and a resource for you. I hope to be a friend that can come alongside of you, help you through the tough stuff, and celebrate the good stuff.”
Jordan’s motto is “your brokenness is welcome here” and she makes sure to create a space where this is true. The author builds rapport with the viewers by creating a welcoming environment that is both informative and encouraging. Her blog runs the gamut on various topics from how to keep your faith strong in college, to how to maintain your physical health, to how to balance a chaotic lifestyle, to how to hustle for the career you want.
The heart of this blog is to be a community for women and a place where people can look to for comfort, advice, connection, and hard truth. Jordan intends to produce content in order to meet the needs of her followers, not primarily to make money or to push an agenda.
She says the broken are welcome because you don't have to have it all together to be worthy or to be valuable. She meets people where they are at and decides to stick by them. Her resources and uplifting content inspire and encourage people in all walks of life.
What peaked my interest and what has kept my devotion to Soul Scripts is not a fancy theme or a high level of writing, but rather it is the hard truths of her content. In my faith, I expect to be pushed, and her blog not only acts as a growing mechanism, but it also brings attention to things that I was not formerly aware of. I subscribe, I read, and I share because I believe in her words and in her mission.
Soul Scripts is a perfect example of how an average person with an average story can take something as simple as a blog and turn it into something significant that has the capability to touch the hearts of countless people.
It doesn't hurt to be a little more ordinary. You never know who you might inspire.
