A Brief History of Social Media Icon: Indy Blue

At the young age of 7-8, Indy Blue decided that she didn't want to be a doctor, or an astronaut, or a singer...she decided she would be famous.

Come high school graduation she also decided college was not the path for her. Her plans were nonexistent but her dreams were big.

"In 2016 Indy became an overnight sensation with her viral video.  She has never promoted her YOUTUBE channel on twitter or other platforms, and it has grown organically, gaining steam with each video Indy would post" (Blue).  

This 2016 video depicted the ultimate trip to Bali. Beautiful, young, tan kids dancing, swimming, exploring, laughing, and being carefree. It was a gut punch to everyone sitting at home going through the motions, but it was also the inspiration people needed to get up and live again.

Since then, Indy's following has grown exponentially. Gleaning over 87,500 subscribers on YouTube, 195K followers on Instagram, and 128K on Twitter.

Dancing Queen

Indy is the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only 21, not 17.

She is the ultimate relatable girl. Dances goofy with her friends, loves memes, and is obsessed with the right angles.

Notably, she dances all over, I mean ALL over the world.

And she looks good doing it.

Indy became wildly famous for her travel videos and since then has made countless trips around the world and even more videos documenting them. From Paris, to Bali, to Hawaii, to Spain, to Iceland, to Japan, she's done it all.

She is a self-made business owner who follows her passions and wherever the next plane takes her (all while ballin on the budget of a 21 year old freelancer).

She is admired by thousands, and inspires even more. She gave many kids the confidence to step outside the box of society's path for a "normal" life and assured them that it is okay, and even good, to do things a little different.
